In 2006 I had a silent heart attack. I walked around for 6 weeks before going to the hospital, only then I learned that I had had a heart attack. Looking back in the mirror and knowing what the signs are for women with heart disease, and that my family history is also a factor, I am lucky to be alive. I now spend all my time teaching people about heart disease not as a medical expert but as a survivor. I am a full-time volunteer for Live on New York signing up over 8,000 new organ donors and counting.
